In order to print with QuickDraw GX installed, you must have created at least one desktop printer icon.
If your printer is connected directly to your Macintosh's modem port or printer port:
Open the Chooser on the Appleツョ Menu. All of the currently installed GX printer drivers are shown in the left area of the Chooser.
1. In the left area of the Chooser, click on the icon of the printer you
want to use (DJ...).
2. Make AppleTalkツョ Inactive by clicking the Inactive button
in the lower-right area of the Chooser.
3. In the upper-right area of the Chooser, select Serial from the
"Connect via:" pop-up menu.
4. In the upper-right area of the Chooser, click the icon of the port to
which the printer cable is connected.
5. Click Create and close the Chooser.
An icon of the printer that you have just created will appear on the desktop. You do have the option of renaming your desktop printer icon, if you choose to do so.
If your printer is on an AppleTalk network:
Open the Chooser on the Apple Menu. All of the currently installed GX printer drivers are shown in the left area of the Chooser.
1. Make AppleTalk active by clicking the Active button in the lower-right
area of the Chooser.
2. Restart your computer.
3. Open the Chooser again.
4. In the left area of the Chooser, click on the icon of the printer you
want to use (DJ...).
5. In the upper-right area of the Chooser, select AppleTalk from the
"Connect via:" pop-up menu.
6. In the lower-left area of the Chooser, click the AppleTalk zone where
the printer is located (this area does not appear if your network does
not have zones).
7. In the upper-right area of the Chooser, click the name of the printer
you want to use (even if only one name is listed).
8. Click Create and close the Chooser.
For more information on using desktop printers, refer to your Apple QuickDraw GX documentation. If you are running System 7.5, online information is available in the Macintosh Guide under the "Printing and Fonts" Topic.
